Your questions, answered.
How do I get a certified true copy?
Come to the office with the original document and your ID. The notary compares and certifies the copy.
What is an apostille?
It is the formality that lets a Mauritian deed be recognised in another country party to the Hague Convention. In Mauritius, the notary's signature is first authenticated, then the deed is apostilled.
What is the difference between a general and a specific power of attorney?
A general power covers day-to-day management; a specific power authorises one act, such as selling a property. For a notarial deed, the power of attorney often has to be notarial itself.
